The event attracted more than 100 delegates from state management agencies, research institutes, universities, embassies, international organisations and local communities concerned about the state of climate change and its impact on children and vulnerable communities.

Opening the event, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Trần Ngọc Anh, Director of the Natural Sciences Company (HUSCO), said: "As a company working in the field of natural sciences and the environment, HUSCO has always been clear about its role and responsibility in contributing knowledge, technology and high-quality human resources to sustainable development. We believe that science is only truly valuable when it is linked to practice – when research results are not just published but applied to improve people's quality of life, especially those vulnerable to natural disasters and climate change."

The workshop aimed to create a space for cross-sectoral dialogue where stakeholders could share research results, practical application models and experience in implementing effective environmental and climate initiatives. In addition, the workshop launched the Action Programme for Sustainable Development and Climate Change Response in Viet Nam. The presentations highlighted the bridging role between research, policy and community action and introduced exemplary models such as the GOODEYE early warning system, a solution integrating sensors, real-time data and risk maps developed by the Natural Sciences Company (HUSCO).

One of the highlights of the event was the presentation of the findings of the "Children's survey on the impact of climate change and natural disasters on children and young people in four districts of Viet Nam", which offered a vivid perspective and a powerful source of inspiration on the role of children in climate action.

At the multi-stakeholder panel discussion, representatives shared perspectives ranging from management and research to practical implementation, and agreed that establishing a tripartite coordination mechanism between researchers, government and communities is a prerequisite for narrowing the gap between research and action. Working alongside World Vision International in Viet Nam, HUSCO is actively implementing practical initiatives to reduce the impact of climate change and natural disasters on community life.

Dr. Doseba Sinay, National Director of World Vision International in Viet Nam, emphasised: "As an international humanitarian organisation, we believe that solutions to climate and environmental problems must start from the community. We work with hundreds of thousands of households in remote areas of Viet Nam, where people and children are directly facing natural disasters, drought, landslides and loss of livelihoods due to climate change."

The workshop was not only an occasion to share research and experience but also opened up prospects for broad cooperation between research institutes, development organisations, local authorities and international partners. Many links were formed between HUSCO, World Vision International in Viet Nam, Hiroshima University, embassies and provincial representatives, with the aim of building a comprehensive climate action network grounded in scientific evidence and community engagement.

After the workshop, these initiatives and connections will continue to be maintained and expanded, not only within academia or individual projects, but also feeding into policies, local development programmes and the legal framework in order to respond effectively to the growing climate challenges in Viet Nam.
